Tour Notes

A large park reflects a large amount of community pride, and in 1889 the citizens of Hastings dedicated an impressive GAR monument to guard the entrance to Tyden Park, right on the river. The obelisk is about 30 feet tall with inscribed face that keep the memory of several large battles alive for those that know their American history.

Hastings claims to be one of the 100 best small towns of America. There are other memorials and parks in the area that lead the casual visitor to agree with the claim.
