Every Veteran Has A Story . . .

No veteran leaves his tour of duty without a few tall tales or memories of the events that defined his time in uniform. Many of the experiences related here were found within newspaper articles, a series of letters, a personal remembrance, an award citation, or an obituary. When possible we seek out the story from the veteran, but that isn't always possible. The do not seek to glamorize their actions, quite the contrary - the purpose is to show that every veteran was doing a job that was often unpalatable and under appreciated. Within each story there is that hint of something familiar, as if you knew the correspondent personally. In many cases you do know them, for every veteran comes from our hometown. He or she is a member of our community. The children we raise become the men and women that serve and defend us.
